MISSION STATEMENT

The Fred Griffin Legacy Fund seeks to distribute impactful financial grants to select Christian non-profit ministries who proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our heart is to serve the needs of others, while using Fred’s legacy of generous giving to share the love of Christ.

Fred Griffin Legacy Story

A retired State Farm insurance agent, Fred ran a successful agency for over 52 years. His humility and his generosity with his time, talents, and resources made him a leader in the industry, as well as a blessing to his team, his clients, and his community.

Fred was a voracious reader, an avid birdwatcher, and an adventurous traveler. But most of all, he cared about people over things. Whether through a quiet act of kindness, a listening ear, or an unexpected gift, Fred lived out his faith by putting the needs of others before his own.

Years ago, a former team member, Jan, was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer after working for Fred for only about six months. She was a single mother of two, and finances were very tight. Fred not only kept her on the payroll for more than two years while she underwent treatment and was unable to work, but he continued paying her a full-time salary. His only request was that she tell no one what he had done. Jan’s story was just one of many acts of generosity that became known after Fred went to Heaven.

Fred’s generosity extended far beyond his business. When a local ministry serving people experiencing homelessness needed help, Fred donated his personal RV trailer. That simple gift became Unit #1 and the catalyst for a ministry that has now reached far beyond its original vision. Today, buses are donated to this ministry, converted, and retrofitted into mobile homeless shelters that provide a safe place for up to 20 people to sleep each night. What began with one RV trailer has grown into an international ministry, bringing hope, dignity, and the love of Christ to countless men and women. It all began with Fred’s generosity, compassion, and willingness to say “yes.”

Fred went to Heaven on September 11, 2020, but his story is far from over. His legacy continues through the Fred Griffin Legacy Fund, which has now distributed more than $1.1 million to qualified ministries that faithfully proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Every gift extends his lifelong passion for serving others and sharing the love of Jesus.

Fred believed that the greatest investment anyone can make is in people. His life reminds us that kindness, generosity, and faith have an impact that reaches far beyond a lifetime. Because of one man’s willingness to serve God faithfully, lives continue to be changed, the Gospel continues to be proclaimed, and hope continues to grow. His legacy lives on—not because of what he accumulated, but because of what he gave.

“We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.”

WHY THE LEGACY FUND WAS FORMED

Fred had a core belief that all our resources belong to and come from God. As such, it was Fred’s vision that this fund would be used to support Christian ministries.

We share in his prayer that grants made from this Legacy Fund would create a lasting impact on others: filling needs and sharing the love of Christ.

“The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it.
The world and all its people belong to him.
For he laid the earth’s foundation on the seas
And built it on the ocean depths”

PSALMS 24:1-2
